CB I Hate Perfume

Niche · United States · est. 2004

CB I Hate Perfume is the independent Brooklyn atelier of American perfumer Christopher Brosius, who co-founded Demeter Fragrance Library in 1992 and served as its nose until he left in July 2004 to work alone. The house takes its name from Brosius's initials and from a manifesto he wrote rejecting conventional perfumery, and it builds scents around memory and place rather than traditional accords — smoke, wet earth, old book bindings, snow, suntan lotion. Everything is composed and bottled in-house and sold in two signature formats: highly concentrated perfume absolutes and alcohol-free water perfumes. Brosius is the sole perfumer behind every composition.
