Nautica

Designer · United States · est. 1983

Nautica is an American lifestyle and menswear label founded in 1983 by designer David Chu, built around a nautical, sailing-inspired aesthetic and its spinnaker-sail logo. Its licensed fragrance line launched in 1992 with the aromatic-fougère Nautica (later sold as Nautica Classic) and grew into one of the most widely distributed mass-market men's fragrance families in the United States. The house is best known for accessible fresh aquatics — above all Nautica Voyage (2006) and Nautica Blue (2005), both composed by Maurice Roucel — that made blue-bottle marine freshness a drugstore staple. Nautica fragrances are produced under licence and sold through department stores, drugstores and mass retail, typically at under $35 a bottle.
