Profumum Roma

Niche · Italy · est. 1996

Profumum Roma was founded in 1996 in Rome by siblings Giuseppe, Luciana, Maria, and Felice Durante, grandchildren of Celestino Durante, a barber-perfumer who built a fragrance atelier in the city after WWII. Frustrated by the increasingly synthetic, market-driven direction of mainstream perfumery, the family set out to make intensely rich, high-concentration extrait-style scents using classic materials with minimal filtering of character. The house is known for bold, maximalist compositions — smoky woods, dense ambers, and gourmand vanillas — bottled in signature round glass flacons, typically at eau de parfum strength (around 43% concentration, higher than most EDPs).
