Nabucco
Niche · France · est. 1997
Nabucco is a small French haute-perfumery house founded in 1997, whose founder spent much of his life in the Middle East and built the brand around the legend of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II (Nabucco) and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Its perfumes are alcohol-free, oil-based 'Parfum Fin' extraits applied with a gold-plated dabber, presented in hand-made French crystal bottles carved from solid blocks of black and clear crystal to symbolise shadow and light, in three signature formats: L'Amulette (5 ml), The Vessel (20 ml) and The Door (60 ml). The house is famously tiny — only three fragrances were ever released, the original masculine/feminine pair Nabucco and Amatys in 1997 and the unisex Gamma Phi Lambda in 2014 — and it is now effectively dormant, with the official site offline and stock largely discontinued.
